The first two stimulus payments are no longer available, however, the third Economic Impact Payment, worth up to $1,400 per person, is still available if you haven't already received it.

As of January 2022, the majority of the payments approved by the American Rescue Plan in March 2021 have been sent to eligible beneficiaries by direct deposit or postal checks.

According to CNBC.com, a bulk of qualified recipients of the payments made possible by the American Rescue Plan in March 2021 had already received stimulus payments via direct deposit or postal cheques. If you haven't received a payment, you'll have to file a 2021 tax return, which is due on April 18.

Even though it was based on the income and number of dependents indicated on your 2020 or 2019 tax return, the third stimulus check was technically an advance on the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit credit. If your income is reduced or you add new dependents in 2021, You could owe more money.

Some folks were left out in the cold because they were ineligible for a third stimulus payment.

Others, on the other hand, were overlooked or received less than they were entitled to for a variety of reasons that will not prevent them from obtaining payment this year. If you didn't file a tax return in 2019 or 2020 and didn't even receive a third stimulus check, you can still claim payment when you file a tax return in 2021.

If you have a child in 2021, individuals will be qualified for an additional $1,400 per dependent for the child who was not included in the third stimulus check payment from last year. If you have had other recent changes in your family (e.g., you got married or divorced) or financial status, you may be eligible for a stimulus check when you file your 2021 tax return (e.g., you lost your job).

People will receive an IRS notice, or letter, once they receive a payment notifying them of the amount of the payment. This is something they should maintain for tax purposes.

If you haven't gotten your third stimulus check, you can utilize the IRS's "Get My Payment" service, which is exclusively available on IRS.gov and is available in both English and Spanish.
