Donald Trump's new social media platform, Truth Social, is expected to be available via web browser by the end of May.

On Apr. 28, the former president posted his first "truth," which is Truth Social's equivalent of a tweet or status update. "I'M BACK! #COVFEFE," it says, with a photo of Trump on his mobile in front of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Truth Social App exists as he was permanently banned from Twitter in February, more than two months after its launch.

What motivates Trump's return to social sites is unknown. Maybe it's the prospect of restoring access to his Twitter account after The Wall Street Journal reported that Elon Musk, who is currently in talks to buy Twitter for $44 billion, as opposed to his ban.

Perhaps it's the growing popularity of Truth Social. Although the platform is still not available on Android devices, it was the most famous free app on the App Store on Apr. 29, owing in part to Trump's tweet. At the time of writing, the app had dropped to fourth place.

In any case, it appears that Trump is finally making use of the social media site that was designed specifically for him and from which he will never be barred.

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), Truth Social's parent company, was founded to stand up to Big Tech after Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube for reportedly inciting or praising violence during the Jan.b6 U.S. Capitol riots.

However, the social media venture is constrained by its reliance on Alphabet-owned Google and Apple, both of which operate app stores that control the smartphone market.

In a platform post, Nunes also stated that Truth Social has not yet been approved for release in the Google Play Store for Android devices.

"We will launch PWA (Web Browser) at the end of May, allowing access from any device," Nunes wrote. "After that, we'll launch an Android app... pending Google approval!"

The app's ability to scale depends on its availability in the Google Play and Apple App stores.

Truth Social debuted on the Apple App Store on February 21 and quickly became the most popular free app. On Monday, it was ranked second on the list.

TMTG intends to go public by merging with the blank-check company Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC). The Securities and Exchange Commission is reviewing the deal, which is expected to take months to complete.
