Apple is increasing the subscription fees for Apple TV+ and Apple Music, as well as the Apple One bundle which includes subscriptions for several of the Cupertino tech giant's services.

For the first time ever, Apple will be charging more for its subscription services per month, 9to5Mac reported. Apple TV+ will cost $2 more per month, while Apple Music will cost $1 more for individual subscribers and $2 for families.

Apple One-which offers Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud in one package-will cost about $3 more per month from now on. Higher-tiered packages, such as the Premier package which throws in News+, Fitness+, and more iCloud storage, will also cost more.

According to a spokesperson from Apple, the increase in subscription fees for each service is caused by various reasons.

The spokesperson said Apple TV+ was bound to have an increase because when it was first introduced to the market, it only had "just a few shows and movies." Three years after it was offered to the masses, Apple TV+ has grown and has started offering more "award-winning and broadly acclaimed" shows "from the world's most creative storytellers."

Basically, Apple simply believed it was time to charge more for Apple TV+.

Subscribing to Apple Music, on the other hand, is more expensive as the licensing costs have increased as well, the spokesperson said. Consequently, this price increase will let songwriters and artists involved in the creation of songs to earn more.

Furthermore, the spokesperson added that Apple works on adding new features to Apple Music so that it could be the "world's best listening experience."

Here's a breakdown of the new monthly fees for Apple's subscription services for U.S.-based consumers:

Apple TV+

  • Monthly: $6.99 per month (from $4.99)
  • Annual: $69 per year (from $49.99)

Apple Music

  • Individual: $10.99 per month (from $9.99)
  • Family: $16.99 per month (from $14.99)
  • Individual Annual: $109 per year (from $99)

Apple One

  • Individual: $16.95 per month (from $14.95)
  • Family: $22.95 per month (from $19.95)
  • Premier: $32.95 per month (from $29.95)

That said, subscribers living in other territories can expect to see a proportional increase in fees as well. Active subscribers will receive notifications regarding the price increase about 30 days before the increase is reflected in their bill.

Apple is not the only tech giant to increase subscription fees for its services, IGN noted. Others, like Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu, have also raised monthly fees this year.
