Fans and players of Square Enix's gacha mobile game "SINoAlice" who saved their data in certain locations will have to say goodbye to the game as the game director puts an end to the service.
"SINoAlice" is a game that lets players assume the role of popular fairy tale heroines such as Alice of Wonderland, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and more as they embark on a quest to revive their authors so they can write happy endings for all of them
Players in the Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong servers, however, will be forced to see a different kind of ending to the title-one where their accounts are deleted once they complete the game, Kotaku noted.
According to Twitter user @sino_alice, "SINoAlice" creative director Yoko Taro has created and released the ending to the game's main story. Players who have saved their data in the aforementioned servers will have their game data erased completely after they successfully play the game. This is because service to these servers is being shut down.
The ending, of course, won't happen abruptly. Players will need to meet certain criterion before being allowed to take on the final arc of the game. Those who want to take it on, however, are advised to finish whatever it is that they have to in the game before doing so.
Taking On The Final Arc
In order to unlock the ending, players will need to do the following:
- First, they will need to clear the Fusion Arc to unlock the Elimination Arc.
- Second, players must finish Elimination/Alice Chapter 5.
Players should do these solo as playing in co-op mode won't unlock the final chapter. Players must also remember that there's no going back to the game's main story after entering the Finale.
In the Final Chapter
- Verses 1 through 9 of the final chapter are already available for players, but the last and final verse, Verse 10, will be released on Nov. 3.
- Players will only be able to play as Alice in Verse 10, where a "very strong" opponent will appear. Those who cannot defeat the enemy will not be allowed to proceed further.
- Those who defeat the final enemy will be shown the ending clip, and will be forced out of the game afterwards.
Final notes
- The Library will be closed forever once players reach the ending. This means players cannot help their friends clear the chapter.
- Players who are force logged out from the game after seeing the ending clip can never log in again, ever.
- Those who force quit the game after clearing Verse 10, in an attempt to stay in the game, will only be allowed to re-enter at Verse 10.
That said, this ending is quite similar to what Taro did in "NieR: Automata," where players will be forced to erase all game data in exchange for permission to help another player during the final boss fight. It's just more lonely, since "SINoAlice" requires players to finish the game alone.
