According to a prominent royal observer, Meghan Markle has been instrumental in the dissipation of Prince Harry's close-knit relationships in his homeland. Kara Kennedy, a regular contributor to The Spectator, spoke on this subject during an interview with GB News host Mark Dolan.
The discourse followed reports that Prince Harry did not participate in the nuptials of his dear friend Jack Mann and Isabella Clarke, held at St. Peter's Church in Sutton, Suffolk, England, on July 1. This prompted questions about whether Prince Harry's life is now permanently entrenched in Montecito, highlighting his potential isolation after renouncing royal duties and relocating to California with Markle in 2020.
"Undoubtedly, that's a factor. Jack Mann wasn't just any friend; he's thought to have been Harry's actual best man. That's the extent of their closeness. But that bond appears shattered now, suggesting a deep sense of isolation and possible loneliness for Harry," Kennedy conjectured.
She added, "Just a few years ago, these friends constituted Harry's entire support network. That's all vanished now."
Kennedy went on to pinpoint a specific incident she believes marked the turning point in these friendships. Allegedly, during a weekend gathering at Sandringham, where Harry and Markle hosted friends, the dynamics changed drastically.
"It was during that Sandringham weekend when everyone realized the friendship with Harry would not be the same. The joy was sucked out of every jest due to Markle's fixation with political correctness and petulance. Everyone concluded that Harry was a lost cause that weekend," the royal commentator claimed.
Kennedy insists, "Meghan was undeniably pivotal in the breakdown of these relationships."
The Business Times could not independently confirm these assertions.
These sentiments echo those of royal biographer and investigative reporter Tom Bower in his book "Revenge." Bower detailed a similar weekend event at Sandringham in an excerpt published by The Times of London, following the public announcement of Harry and Markle's relationship in September 2017.
Bower penned, "Harry was eager for the weekend filled with camaraderie, humor, and plenty of drinks. The house echoed with jokes revolving around sexism, feminism, and transgender topics. Meghan did not hesitate to confront any guest who crossed her values. According to some friends, she continuously admonished them for the slightest inappropriate remark. No one was spared."
Prince Harry acknowledged in his and Markle's Netflix docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," the impact of stepping back from royal duties and moving to the U.S. on his friendships.
"I do miss the unique family gatherings when we all congregated for certain occasions during the year. Being a part of the institution meant living in the U.K. I miss the U.K. and my friends," he expressed, as reported by Us Weekly.
The Duke of Sussex concluded, "I've lost a few friends in this process... I came to California because I had transformed. I'd outgrown my environment. Hence, this seemed the most logical place to be. My mother, Princess Diana, probably would have ended up living here, I think."
