BTS's Jungkook is stepping into the spotlight with the release of his solo single "Seven," set to drop at 1 p.m. Korean Standard Time on July 14. Although he has previously shared solo tracks such as "Still With You" and "My You" for free, this marks the official commencement of his solo endeavors. In anticipation of the launch, Jungkook has been opening up about the upcoming track and his feelings towards launching a solo career through Big Hit Music.
"Seven is a catchy song that anyone can easily enjoy," he said, expressing his immediate connection with the track. "The moment I heard it, I knew I had to do it - I rarely fall for a song instantly like this."
"Seven" combines an addictive melody with warm acoustic guitar sounds and rhythms from the UK garage genre, a form of electronic music that emerged in the early 1990s in Britain. It's the perfect summer song, inviting listeners to fully enjoy the vibes of the season. It's a passionate serenade, conveying a desire to spend every day of the week with a loved one. Jungkook's mellifluous vocals only enhance the charm and quality of the song.
A host of stellar contributors worked alongside Jungkook on his solo project, from the composition of "Seven" to its music video. Grammy award-winning music producer and songwriter Andrew Watt, and Cirkut have partnered to bring a distinct color to Jungkook's music as producers of "Seven."
Additionally, American rapper Latto adds dynamic energy to "Seven" as a featured artist. The synergy of the project was further boosted by actress Han So-hee's participation in the music video. The teaser, released a day prior to the main video, quickly amassed over one million views in just ten minutes, capturing global fans' attention.
Scooter Braun, CEO of HYBE America, actively participated in the process of creating "Seven" and in Jungkook's solo project as a whole.
Reflecting on the process, Jungkook shared, "I pondered how to make 'Seven' more enjoyable for a larger audience. It was the first time I attempted this genre, and the process was refreshing. I learned a lot while recording. It was an invigorating and pleasant experience."
Meanwhile, Jungkook is slated to debut his performance of "Seven" at the "2023 Summer Concert Series" on American network ABC, local time, on July 14.
