1. Microsoft Partners with Meta to Launch Open-source Model LLAMA2, Copilot Pricing Soars

Recently, Microsoft joined forces with Meta to unveil LLAMA2, Meta's next-generation open-source language model, freely available for both research and commercial purposes.

LLAMA2, built on the basis of its predecessor, LLAMA, boasts three parameter sizes: 7 billion, 13 billion, and 70 billion. Another model with 34 billion parameters is currently under training and was not included in this release.

The partnership's benefits are apparent: Azure customers can now effortlessly and securely fine-tune and deploy 7B, 13B, and 70B parameter LLAMA2 models on the Azure platform. By optimizing for developers, models can also run locally on Windows and utilize the powerful tools of Azure AI for model training, fine-tuning, and inference, especially features supporting AI safety.

This move by Microsoft could reduce the influence of GPT in future Windows implementations.

Additionally, Microsoft announced the pricing of its Microsoft 365 Copilot service: $30 per person per month, aimed at Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium customers. This translates to an annual pricing of $360 or approximately 2520 yuan. Compared to the original Office product pricing of 398 yuan per year, this is nearly a sixfold increase. However, it's noteworthy that Copilot still relies on the GPT-4 API.
