Girl group NewJeans has once again achieved a career high on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
According to the latest chart released by Billboard on July 25, the triple title track "Super Shy" from NewJeans' (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) second mini album 'Get Up' has claimed the 64th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated July 29, 2023, marking a two-step increase from the previous week.
"Super Shy," which was pre-released on July 7th, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #66 just one week after its release on July 22, 2023. This achievement surpassed NewJeans' previous hits 'OMG' (#74) and 'Ditto' (#82). Since then, the popularity of 'Super Shy' has further surged. With the release of the album on July 21, along with the other tracks, the song successfully boosted its rank this week.
These results were anticipated through Spotify metrics. 'Super Shy' started at #37 on Spotify's US "Daily Top Songs" and peaked at #9 (as of July 13) and has since been maintaining its spot in the upper ranks.
Notably, all six songs from the second mini album, including "Super Shy," have been charting for three days (from July 21 to 24) on Spotify's US "Daily Top Songs." Accordingly, it is predicted that more tracks from NewJeans could possibly enter the "Hot 100."
"Super Shy" also secured a spot in the upper echelon on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global (excluding the US) charts for two consecutive weeks. After entering at #2 on both charts last week, this week it climbed to #5 and #3, respectively.
Alongside this, expectations are high for NewJeans' first entry into the Billboard 200.
As of the fifth day since its release, NewJeans' second mini-album has sold over 1.24 million copies. Sales figures in the US market have not yet been released, but considering NewJeans' expanded influence in the mainstream pop market over the past year, it is a target worth aiming for. If this happens, NewJeans will become the group to have made it onto both main Billboard charts in the shortest time since their debut.
