BTS's Jungkook has made a remarkable new record as an Asian artist on Spotify's global chart, further solidifying his popularity.
According to the World Music Awards (WMA), Jungkook's solo track "Seven" has remained at the top spot on Spotify's global chart for 12 consecutive days, amassing over 10.8 million streams after filtering.
With "Seven," Jungkook has achieved the longest record of 10 consecutive days at number one on the global chart, a first for any K-pop group or artist. As of July 25th, according to Spotify's tally, Jungkook achieved 10,807,508 streams, creating a record as the first and longest reigning Asian artist on the chart.
Jungkook is also the first Korean solo artist to top the global chart upon first entry and the first K-pop artist to debut at number one on the US chart. Moreover, he debuted with a record-breaking number of daily streams (15,995,378 after filtering), the most by an Asian artist in the history of Spotify's global chart. Within 10 days of its release, "Seven" surpassed 150 million streams (before filtering).
In addition to these achievements, Jungkook has also reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with "Seven", and simultaneously topped the Global 200 and Global (excluding U.S.) charts, setting an unprecedented record for an Asian solo artist. "Seven" also ranked third on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100, making Jungkook the first Korean solo artist to debut in the top five of the chart upon release.
"Seven" has broken several records on iTunes, reaching number one on the Top Songs charts in 113 countries (regions), demonstrating its powerful performance on major music platforms around the world.
In the meantime, Jungkook's impact and presence as a global artist have been demonstrated by his ranking as the "Most Streamed K-pop Solo Artist Worldwide" in Spotify's "Top K-Pop Artist of 2022".
