BTS's V (Kim Taehyung) is showcasing unmatched musical dominance as his songs "Love Me Again" and "Rainy Days" claim the top two spots on the US Amazon Best Seller list.
On August 10, V's debut solo album's pre-release track "Love Me Again" was unveiled, followed by "Rainy Days" on August 11.
While it's customary for new songs to have extensive promotions before release, these tracks were surprisingly dropped a day after V's solo album announcement. Yet, they ascended to the top of Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce platform, taking everyone by surprise. Both 'Love Me Again' and 'Rainy Days' are ranked first and second respectively in Amazon's 'Best Seller Digital Songs' and 'New Releases Digital Songs' categories.
The first release from the solo album, the music video for 'Layover', has been receiving immense love, maintaining its position as the number one trending worldwide video. It crossed 40 million views just a week after its release and still holds the top spot in Korea's trending music charts.
On the Japanese Oricon Daily Digital Single Ranking Chart, 'Rainy Days' secured the first position, followed by 'Love Me Again' in second.
'Love Me Again' is a track influenced by the 1970s soul sound, blending gospel and jazz elements. V's rhythmic and captivating bass voice imbues the song with a dreamy atmosphere and lasting impression. In contrast, 'Rainy Days' belongs to the alternative pop R&B genre, producing a unique mood by harmonizing vintage and exotic percussion with contemporary drum sounds.
Songs from V's solo album offer a different genre than the usual BTS tracks. Regarding his solo album, V shared with fans, "I feel like it truly represents me. It shows who Kim Taehyung is, what I like... I genuinely love 'Love Me Again'. It's really charming."
V's first solo album 'Layover' will be released on September 8th. Being the last member of BTS to release a solo album, V's debut is expected to be the grand finale of the group members' individual projects.
