In recent revelations, Caitlyn Jenner, the 73-year-old former Olympian, has spoken out about the infamous 2007 leak of Kim Kardashian's sex tape, shedding light on her knowledge-or lack thereof-regarding the situation. This comes amidst longstanding rumors and speculations about the involvement of the Kardashian-Jenner family in the tape's release.
Jenner's comments were made during her appearance on the Sky News docuseries, "House of Kardashian." Addressing the controversy, she stated, "Whatever's going on, I don't know what it is and I'm gonna go to the golf course." This sentiment reflects her desire to distance herself from the drama surrounding the tape's release. Over the years, rumors have insinuated that Kris Jenner, Kim's mother, might have played a role in orchestrating the leak. However, Caitlyn firmly stated, "To be honest with you, I just stayed out of it. Kris never talked to me about it. I never talked to Kimberly about it. I don't know what happened, why it happened."
The tape, which features Kim Kardashian and her ex-boyfriend Ray J, was filmed nearly two decades ago. It resurfaced in the public eye when it became a significant plot point in the first season of "The Kardashians." In one of the episodes, Kim revealed that her then-husband, Kanye West, had met with Ray J to secure a computer and hard drive containing an unedited version of the tape. Kim expressed her gratitude towards Kanye, emphasizing her desire to shield their children from the tape's content.
However, the narrative took another twist when Ray J countered the claims made on the show. In a May 2022 interview with the Daily Mail, he alleged that Kim had always been in possession of the original tapes, stored in a Nike shoebox under her bed. He further claimed that the idea of releasing a tape was initially a playful suggestion from him, but Kim, after discussing it with her mother, Kris Jenner, took the reins. Ray J emphasized, "I've sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade and a half talking about a topic I've never really spoken about."
Ray J's allegations suggest that the Kardashian-Jenner family had a more significant role in the tape's release than previously believed. He stated, "I've never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak."
In a separate instance, Kris Jenner also addressed the rumors. During her appearance on "The Late Late Show With James Corden" in September 2022, she underwent a lie detector test. When asked by host James Corden if she had any involvement in releasing Kim's sex tape, Kris responded with a firm "no." The lie detector results indicated she was telling the truth.
The controversy surrounding the 2007 tape continues to be a topic of discussion, with various narratives and claims emerging over the years. As the Kardashian-Jenner family remains in the spotlight, it's clear that the tape's legacy and the mysteries surrounding its release will continue to intrigue the public.
