'SPOT!' celebrates Zico's 10th anniversary of his solo debut and captures an unguarded moment between two friends who meet at a late-night party. Upon release, Zico expressed his confidence in the track through his agency, KOZ Entertainment, stating, "As soon as this song was completed, I had no doubt that it was a hit."
Anticipation for the new track was heightened by a prerelease snippet of Jennie recording 'SPOT!' in the studio, shared on social media. This early reveal of Jennie's vocal part set high expectations for the song.
Upon its release, the song quickly climbed to the top, securing the No. 1 spot on the Melon Hot100 chart. From April 29 to May 6, 'SPOT!' dominated the daily charts of major Korean music platforms such as Melon, Bugs, Genie, and Flo. It also topped the weekly charts on Melon, Genie, and Bugs for the week of April 29 to May 5.
'SPOT!' became the first song of the year to break 400,000 daily users on Melon. Within 24 hours of its release, it amassed 1,353,300 plays, earning a spot in Melon's Hall of Fame, which celebrates tracks that exceed one million streams within 24 hours. Remarkably, it also entered Melon's monthly chart for April at position 88, based on just five days of performance.
Internationally, 'SPOT!' made an impressive debut on Spotify's 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart at position 157 and quickly surged into the top 100, showcasing its global appeal.
The collaboration between Zico and Jennie has proven to be a resounding success, capturing the charts effectively. This year marks Zico's 10th debut anniversary, and Jennie has also recently established her own agency, OA (Odd Atelier), embarking on a solo career which makes this collaboration particularly noteworthy.
