During a lively segment, Newsmax host Sarah Williamson challenged activist David Sumrall's claim that the January 6 events were largely peaceful. Williamson insisted the violence was undeniable, pointing to vivid video evidence. The on-air clash highlighted ongoing disagreements over one of the most contentious days in recent history.
Newsmax Host Confronts Activist on Jan. 6 Violence Claims
A conservative activist named David Sumrall denied that supporters of Donald Trump violently rioted at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. Newsmax host Sarah Williamson responded to Sumrall's denial by stating that she was wrong.
The prediction was made by Sumrall at a panel discussion that took place on Sunday. He stated that Trump would fulfill his vow to pardon a large number of offenders on the first day of his presidency from January 6, The Raw Story shares.
Claims of a Setup Spark Controversy Over Capitol Riot
The disturbance on January 6 was, according to Sumrall, a setup rather than the intention of the individuals present.
He is in the opinion that the assault was either by a water bottle or a flagpole, insisting that he believes that Trump is going to do this. Further implying that Trump is not going to abandon any of the heroes that he has been working with since January 6.
For civilians who were killed at the hands of the police, there is a difference between police brutality, self-defense, and protection of others, Sumrall noted.
Williamson Counters With Evidence of Capitol Riot Violence
It didn't take Williamson long to correct the activist from January 6.
"David, I just want to clarify, though, there was violence on January 6," the Newsmax host explained. "Like, we have the videos. So, you can say, like, that - it was, you know, there's no denying it when you see the videos that - I just want to make sure that that was clear."
Citizen Journalist Defends Jan. 6 Defendants as Political Hostages
David Sumrall is a "citizen journalist" who heads Stop Hate, a group that refers to the defendants who were arrested on January 6 as "political hostages," as reported by The Kansas City Star.
In the latter part of the year 2023, President Trump shared on social media a statement that says Capitol police officers should be charged and that J6 protesters should be freed.
The post displays CCTV footage of police and rioters exchanging blows, suggesting that the Uniparty is opposed to the distribution of such videos to the public.
