BLACKPINK confirmed it will release its third mini-album, DEADLINE, on Feb. 27, 2026, marking the quartet's first full-group project since Born Pink topped the Billboard 200 in 2022. The announcement, made Feb. 5, immediately sent the group trending on X as pre-orders and pre-saves went live across major platforms.
The release date arrived with a stark visual teaser shared by ROSé, JISOO, LISA and JENNIE. The image revealed the full tracklist against a desert-like field of black, glittering sand under a clouded sky, extending the dark, high-fashion concept the group began teasing in late January.
DEADLINE will include five songs, opening with the previously released single "JUMP," followed by the title track "GO," "Me and my," "Champion," and "Fxxxboy." Online discussion intensified after snippets and lyric fragments circulated, including the line "hide your man we ain't playing," which fueled debate around the album's themes of confidence and independence. The same circulation also prompted complaints from fans about unauthorized leaks ahead of release.
The project follows an extended period of solo activity for each member. JENNIE released her solo project Ruby, ROSé followed with rosie, LISA put out Rockstar, and JISOO focused on acting while launching her own label. Those individual efforts unfolded after the Born Pink era and before the group regrouped for live performances.
BLACKPINK returned as a unit during the DEADLINE World Tour, which began in July 2025 and concluded in January 2026, serving as the group's first sustained run of joint performances since the members pursued separate projects. The tour set the stage for a coordinated comeback, with the new mini-album positioned as the next phase.
ROSé discussed the album's origins during an appearance on Call Her Daddy, saying the music came together after a year in which the members explored their identities separately before reconvening as a group, and noting that she enjoyed the songs that resulted from that process.
Beyond music, acting projects continue to expand the group's footprint. Netflix confirmed that JISOO's romantic comedy series Boyfriend on Demand will premiere March 6, 2026, with JISOO portraying a webtoon producer who escapes routine life through a virtual dating simulation. LISA is also developing a Netflix romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill, working with executive producer David Bernad, following their collaboration on The White Lotus Season Three.
Early reaction to DEADLINE has been swift and polarized-excitement over the confirmed date and visuals matched by frustration over leaks. The group has not yet announced additional singles or promotional appearances, keeping focus on the album release as anticipation builds toward late February.
