Camilla Parker-Bowles became an official member of the British Royal Family in 2005. She has since worked on various charitable causes and supported different advocacies.

As the wife of the Heir Apparent, she received the title, "Duchess of Cornwall." She, also, has other royal honors, considering she married the next person in line to the British Throne.

Recently, though, she obtained a new "prestigious" appointment from Queen Elizabeth II. The reigning monarch made her a Royal Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and it is a "unique" title, according to Express UK.

The publication spoke with expert Dr. Bob Morris about the new honor Camilla Parker-Bowles received from the Queen. He shared that the Duchess of Cornwall is not the first woman to be appointed to the Garter as Queen Alexandra holds the post upon obtaining it in 1901.

Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth were, also, given the same title following the accession of their respective husbands to the British Throne. Moreover, Princess Anne and Princess Alexandra are Royal Knights Companion, as well, of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

What made it "unique" for Prince Charles' wife, though, is that she has become the first female royal, who was born outside of the British Royal Family, to receive the title. This means that Kate Middleton and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, have yet to obtain the same honor. Nevertheless, the Queen could still appoint the two latter female royals to the Order of the Garter.

Reports noted that the title is one of the United Kingdom's highest and most prestigious order of chivalry. Camilla Parker-Bowles is said to have received the appointment because of her contributions to the country and the British Monarchy.

Following the historic event, experts now believe that the Duchess of Cornwall may become a "Queen Consort," instead of "Princess Consort" when Prince Charles ascends to the Throne. This comes as many speculate that she will not become "Queen" in the future because of her and the Prince of Wales' controversial past.

But, upon receiving the new title from Queen Elizabeth II, it reportedly gave a "strong hint" that she could, one day, carry the Queen Consort title. An expert even asserted that it is an "indication" of the reigning British Monarch's confidence in her, according to The International News.

Meanwhile, Camilla Parker-Bowles is likely gearing up for a new venture this July. People said that she will be a guest editor of Country Life magazine for the said month's issue in celebration of her 75th birthday.
