Lucy Liu, Chinese-American actress who is best known for her heroine film, 'Charlie's Angels,' has been included in the list of celebrities who will be honored with a star in the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The anticipated event is expected to take place in 2019.
The new batch of honorees was recently announced via by the head of Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Leron Gubler, and Vin Di Bona, TV producer and current chairman of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee. The announcement was exclusively live-streamed via Walk of Fame's own website on June 25.
"The Committee always tries to select a group of talented honorees that appeal in various genres of the entertainment world," Variety quoted Di Bona as saying. "I feel the Committee has outdone themselves and I know the fans, tourists and the Hollywood community will be pleased with our selections."
The Hollywood Walk of Fame 2019 honorees were categorized into four divisions, including television, motion pictures, theatre/live performance, and recording. Lucy Liu is set to receive a star under the television category for her role in the legal comedy-drama 'Ally McBeal.'
As a Chinese-American lawyer in the said popular series that run for five seasons, the 49-year-old was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the prestigious Primetime Emmy Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award. She has also won many awards as an actress in films like 'Kill Bill,' 'Chicago,' 'Shanghai Noon' and 'Charlie's Angels.'
In any case, as per CBS Los Angeles, the other Hollywood Walk of Fame recipients in the television category include Alvin And The Chipmunks, Mandy Moore, Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest, Guy Fieri, Stacy Keach, Terrence Howard, Sid and Marty Krofft and Julia Child (Posthumous).
Lucy Liu was born in Queens, New York. Her mother is a biochemist while her father worked as a civil engineer. Her parents were originally from Beijing and Shanghai, respectively, but they decided to settle in the U.S.
Although she was raised in America, the actress grew up speaking both English and Mandarin. Since young, she loves to act and had taken small part roles in a theatre production of 'Alice in Wonderland.' Eventually, she decided to take acting seriously.
Liu moved to Los Angeles and spent most of her time joining auditions. Her determination and perseverance paid off and she was able to secure a guest appearance in 'Beverly Hills 90210.'
The Chinese-American actress' appearance in the show paved the way for her casting in other popular series such as 'ER' and 'NYPD Blue.' Finally, Liu's acting career in Hollywood took off from there.
Meanwhile, the exact date for Lucy Liu's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony has yet to be scheduled. All the recipients are expected to hold their ceremonies within two years from the date of selection before it expires.
