Production for the final installment to the third set of "Star Wars" trilogy series aptly named "Star Wars: Episode IX," is slated to begin in 2019 but even as of this year, fans are already hankering for the latest news about the upcoming film. Here are a few strings of rumor going on around the web:

Lando Returns

According to reports, the character Lando Calrissian played by series veteran Billy Dee Williams will be returning to the fold for the upcoming big screen title.

Lando appeared in George Lucas' "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" - an old friend of Harrison Ford's Han Solo from the planet Bespin. He is a smuggler who later became Baron-Administrator of Cloud City.

Details are still scarce as to what role Lando will play in Episode IX but speculations suggest that his appearance will be in connection to the passing of Leia Organa, who is played by the late Carrie Fisher.

Williams is said to return to the franchise, this time under Disney, to reprise his beloved alter-ego. Rumors of his recent involvement sparked following his absence at the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo. According to sources, the 81-year-old thespian has to forego his planned appearance due to a "film schedule conflict."

Not much has been said as to what particular project he is purportedly in but several media outlets were quick to connect his Episode IX casting.

Poe and Finn Reconnect

Speaking of old-time friendships, We Got This Covered points out to the rumored major set piece involving Poe Dameron and Finn.

Poe, played by Oscar Isaac, holds a commanding post in the Resistance's Starfighter Corps and is one of General Organa's trusted friends. Meanwhile, Finn, portrayed by John Boyega, was a former stormtrooper renounced allegiance to the First Order and is now a close friend of Daisy Ridley's Rey.

Poe and Finn met in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Both were seen escaping from the enemy's lair.

What's heard is that Poe and Finn will share a "key scene" taking place in a "bar of some sorts." The said scene allegedly has a "very important" role in the development of the film.

"Star Wars: Episode IX" is directed by J.J. Abrams and is slated for a Dec. 2019 theater release.
