A ferry was traveling between Hong Kong islands when unexpected happened. Due to high waves and strong current, it, later on, sank on Wednesday. Fortunately, all individuals aboard were alive and rescued.

South China Morning Post reports the single-deck boat was carrying 13 passengers along two crew members. It came from Cheung Chau and was traveling to Shek Kwu Chau. The incident took place at around 3 pm. The crew then called the police for help.

According to a police spokesman, there was another ferry that came from Shek Kwu Chau and was tasked to pick up 11 of those on board before the vessel sank. The remaining four, however, had no choice but to jump into the sea.

The other ferry managed to retrieve three people from the water. Eventually, a fireboat picked up the fourth man.

Fortunately, no one among the passengers and crew got injured, let alone need hospital treatment. The sunken vessel is reportedly measured about 15 by 15 meters. The authorities announced that there is no suspicious cause found after initiating an investigation.

Despite not being severe, this was not the first boat incident in Hong Kong this year. A few months ago, there was a collision involving two speedboats off the city's Lamma Island. Unfortunately, it left at least eight injured people, as one of the vessels sank.

The accident took place about 200 meters off the island, and the victims had to be rescued by nearby sailors before marine police and emergency services arrived.

Those involved were later picked up from Yung Shue Wan pier on Lamma and sent to a clinic for initial treatment. Some were later sent to a hospital, with one reportedly having suffered a head injury. The police were investigating the cause of the collision.

Another deadly boat accident involves some Hongkongers, though it did not necessarily happen in the metro. The vessel, which was called The Phoenix, carried 105 people, most of which were Chinese and Hongkongers, Hong Kong Free Press reports.

The boat reportedly sank on its way back from a popular snorkeling spot, which is located off the southern resort of Phuket. It was among three vessels that ignored bad weather warning against island day trips.

The boat's captain, an engineer and the owner of the company that operates the vessel have been arrested and are being held while authorities conduct an investigation

Tourists from China made up almost a quarter of Thailand's 35 million visitors last year. But with the accident, it is expected to decrease.
