Fortnite: Battle Royale players will have one eventful week up ahead. The highly anticipated High Stakes event is just around the corner and, to further whet gamers' appetites, developer Epic Games finally released its details which includes free challenges and their reward as well as a new Limited Time Mode (LTM) called Getaway.
The Getaway limited-time mode, as reported by Eurogamer, is specifically designed for squads. Various teams will compete with each other as they explore the Battle Royale landscape in search of jewels.
These jewels, by the way, will be found inside safes which are dropped from the sky via Supply Drop balloons. Aside from scouring for these jewels teams must ensure to survive the attacks from other squads and safely return to the escape bus. Many gamers are already excited with the Getaway limited-time mode as it brings a new factor into the gameplay other than merely surviving.
To makes things even more interesting and heat up the competition between squads, Epic Games announced that there will be three challenges that the teams must complete. Of course, the developer also dangled enticing rewards for completing the set of challenges, as reported by Forbes.
The first challenge is pretty easy. Players must complete 10 matches of The Getaway and they will be rewarded with 5,000 XP.
Challenge number 2, however, might be a bit difficult. Players must deal at least 500 damage to their jewel-carrying opponents. The reward for completing the task is a new High Stakes spray
The third challenge might need a bit of luck and some patience. Players need to pick up a jewel in five different matches to get a reward, which is a High Stakes contrail. Thankfully, it is not necessary to pick up jewels in five consecutive matches so one is bound to complete the task over time.
But that's not all. There is actually a bonus reward after completing all the challenges. Players will be rewarded with a High Stakes crowbar Harvesting Tool for just completing all three challenges.
Epic Games also announced a new item - the grapple gun - which will be introduced with the High Stakes event, according to Express. The new gun could be particularly useful in completing the challenges as it can propel players across the map which makes it possible to execute quick, close-up kills.
The best part is that the event is free-to-play for all Fortnite players as Forbes reported that there is no need for a Season 5 Battle Pass. But for gamers who have some extra cash to spare, there is a cool new High Stakes outfit for sale.
