It looks like things are starting to heat up in "NCIS" season 16. A new photo from the set has hit the web, teasing Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Nicholas Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) might be in danger once the show returns.
In early September, Wilmer Valderrama posted a set photo of his and Brian Dietzen's characters on Instagram as he teases the upcoming 16th season of "NCIS." In the photo, the two members of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) team can be seen behind bars along with the caption: "I blame Palmer.. #NCIS September 25th."

While not much has been said about the on-set photo, Cinema Blend speculated that Dr. Jimmy Palmer and Nicholas Torres probably got themselves in trouble because of some hijinks, instead of getting caught up in a crime. It is also worth noting that the former's polo is splashed with paint, while the latter has a shiner on his left eye.
In addition to that, the much-awaited premiere of "NCIS" Season 16 will feature a time jump. The premiere episode will pick up a few days after Leon Vance's (Rocky Carroll) abduction and will see Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) filling in as director, a high-position that he does not apparently feel comfortable with.
The 16th season of the popular action police procedural television series will also follow Nicholas Torres and Eleanor Bishop's (Emily Wickersham) budding romance. However, it would be a slow-phase romance.
"Torres and Bishop sort of... become close," co-showrunner Frank Cardea said in a quick interview with TV Line. "We're glancing in that direction. If you go back in 'NCIS' history, the 'Tiva' thing took many years to develop," he added.
As fans will recall, Nicholas Torres and Eleanor Bishop's budding romance started after they go undercover as a criminal couple in the previous season. The said criminal couple was available for hire during an NCIS sting operation tracking illegal drug-running out of the Norfolk civilian marina.
Aside from the above-mentioned characters, "NCIS" Season 16 will see the return of Sean Murray as Timothee McGee, David McCallum as Dr. Donald Mallard, Maria Bello as Dr. Jacqueline Sloanea and Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, a forensic scientist. Both Duane Henry and Pauley Perrette, who played the roles of Clayton Reeves and Abby Sciuto, will not return.
"NCIS" season 16 is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 25, Tuesday on CBS. While waiting, check out the season 15 finale below:
