It is easy to say that Mark Harmon's Gibbs has a set of rules that have become a staple on NICS. Reports suggest that a couple of changes are heading the show's 16th Season.

In a report from Celebrity Insider, executive producer Steven D. Binder recently revealed that Gibbs is expected to introduce a new set of rules this season. And as expected, they will be playing a crucial part in a larger story in the show.

Some Gibbs' rules have been introduced over the past 15 seasons of "NCIS." Most, if not all of them, have been created as the story evolves, with each one being introduced whenever the team needs it.

It has also been confirmed that two new writers will be joining the staff for Season 16. Binder also reassured fans that some new rules would be featured this season.

"The rules create themselves, to fit a need in the story," he explained.

Binder did not reveal, however, what the new rules are. Nonetheless, it is both interesting and exciting to know that more are in the works. According to Carter Matt, there is a strong chance the rules will help grow Gibbs as a character while paying homage to his old self.

The new rules will also be a bit nostalgic for fans as they used to be an important fixture on the show. This also means that fans can expect the series to continue to go in new directions, especially since it is heading towards its 16th year. That includes taking Gibbs out of his comfort now that Vance is out of the picture. With the latter getting kidnapped at the end of last season, the former will become the acting director, which should push the character to new extremes.

In addition to his new duties, Gibbs will also develop his relationship with Sloane, and there is a possibility that the two get a little romantic. Could this be what creates a new rule in Gibbs' book?

The previous season of the naval crime drama did not air on Fox UK until January 2018, meaning that season 16 is likely to drop the same time in 2019.

When Fox airs the first episode, it will likely be available to stream on Now TV. For those who need their "NCIS" fix to fill the gap before new episodes, all 15 seasons are now available to watch on Netflix. It is not known how soon after broadcast season 16 will be available.

The titular show is slated to return to CBS come Tuesday, September 25, Express reports.
