The fifth season of "Steven Universe" is not over yet, but fans might have to wait a little longer than expected for the animated television series' sixth season.
The rumor that the sixth season of "Steven Universe" will not drop until 2019 started after series creator Rebecca Sugar allegedly decided to take a short break. This is also the reason why the current season's final episode is nowhere to be seen.
Ever since the 25th episode of "Steven Universe" season 5 aired last July, fans have been patiently waiting for the release of the supposed season finale. While nothing is set in stone yet, rumors suggest that the much-awaited 26th episode will hit the airwaves in early October.
As for the sixth season of "Steven Universe," EconoTimes speculated that it will more likely premiere sometime in 2019 since it will feature more episodes compare to the previous seasons. Thus, the production team would be needing an ample time to complete the planned 32 episodes.
Back in 2017, Deedee Magno-Hall, the voice of Pearl, shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos on Twitter. In the photos, the voice actors can be seen recording some script for the popular animated series. A "609" and "610" production codes can also be seen on the screen, which hint at episode 9 and 10 of "Steven Universe" season 6.

To make things more exciting, Leisha Medina, the Latin American voice actor of Steven and Blue Diamond, has confirmed that she is already working on the sixth installment, but cannot confirm anything about it yet.
Aside from the animated series' sixth season, the production team is also busy working on the much-awaited feature film titled "Steven Universe: The Movie." However, it is not known yet how it will tie into the TV series.
The official synopsis for the feature film reads: "The Crystal Gems are a team of magical beings who are the self-appointed guardians of the universe. Half-human, half-Gem hero Steven is the "little brother" of the group. The goofball is learning to save the world using the magical powers that come from his bellybutton, and he goes on magical adventures with the rest of the Crystal Gems, even though he's not as powerful - or smart - as fellow group members Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Despite his shortcomings, Steven usually finds a surprising way to save the day."
As of press time, no release date has been set yet.
