"Narcos: Mexico," a spin-off of the popular crime drama web television series "Narcos," now has a premiere date. The new series is set to arrive on Nov. 16 on Netflix.

The web television series' premiere date was announced with a first teaser trailer, which offers a lens into the illegal drug trade in Mexico. The 55-second video also introduces actors Diego Luna and Michael Peña as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo and Kiki Camarena, respectively.

Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo is the leader of the Guadalajara Cartel and founder of the modern Mexican drug trade. Kiki Camarena, on the other hand, is an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent who goes up against Gallardo's realm.

As hinted at the end of "Narcos" season 3, "Narcos: Mexico" is set in Mexico City and will explore the rise of the Guadalajara cartel, which was the first Mexican drug trafficking group to sync up with the Colombia bosses in the cocaine trade.

"The origins of the Guadalajara cartel are in the late 1970s and early 1980s, so 'Narcos' is going back in time," showrunner Eric Newman told The Hollywood Reporter following the new web television series' announcement. "We decided on the Guadalajara cartel because it represents the beginning of the modern Mexican drug trade. It makes sense to start there."

"Narcos: Mexico" will also introduce Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, an infamous drug lord who headed the Sinaloa Cartel, into the storyline. The character will be played by "Fear The Walking Dead" star, Alejandro Edda.

"[El] Chapo was there at the beginning, in a way," Eric Newman said. "He was one of the younger guys in the Guadalajara cartel before it splintered and he and another guy were given Sinaloa as territory," he explained."

Fans of "Narcos" will also see a familiar face as Mexican actor Jose Maria Yazpik will be reprising his role as drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes, also known as the Lord of the Skies, in "Narcos: Mexico." The character is the nephew of another Guadalajara boss, Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo, who was introduced in the previous season.

Also starring in the upcoming crime drama web television series are Aaron Staton as Butch Sears, Alfonso Dosal as Benjamín Arellano Félix, Alyssa Diaz as Mika Camarena, Clark Freeman as Ed Heath, Ernesto Alterio as Salvador Osuna Nava, Fermin Martinez as Juan José "El Azul" Esparragoza Moreno and Fernanda Urrejola as Maria Elvira.
