The iPhone XS Series is something anyone can get starting at $1,000, giving aspiring owners bragging rights and the latest model from the Apple. Pretty heavy on the pocket, most expect only the best features once they do make the investment.
The built-in cameras are one of the chief selling points of the mobile device. So far, most have been talking about the rear camera and the magic the A12 bionic chip can deliver. Most of this was discussed in a previous post, singling out how wide-angle image sensors have made the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max a better device to snap scintillating photos with better color accuracy – particularly in low light conditions. With the main camera covered, how about the front-facing camera?
In an age where selfies have become a rapid craze among mobile phone owners, Apple has made key improvements on the front-facing shooter as well. According to several people who have already gotten hold of the iPhone XS, the captured shots have been impressive and may, in fact, be too good that they even make anyone’s skin look “too good.” Much of this was shared on Reddit.
At first, this would be welcome news. However, those folks are actually a bit disappointed. For example, one says that the captured shots look like they were airbrushed, calling on Apple to make the necessary fixes.
The Cupertino company explains that the new front-facing camera technology includes advanced algorithms that are behind the photo enhancements (Smart HDR). While it has yet to be explained why these filtered images have been happening, there is growing belief that the cause may be a result of the beauty mode. If so, this explains the blurring effect that is happening, something that other smartphones offer through apps like Facetune and/or Meitu, Yahoo Lifestyles said.
If not the app, there are some pinning the blame on the noise reduction technology feature on the enhanced selfies, Cult of Mac said. This normally occurs when the camera sensors pick up electrical signals, smoothening out grainy portions of the photo and thus resulting in an unlikely air-brushed photo.
Apple has yet to air their side on the issue that is now dubbed as #beautygate by some iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max owners. And while some are frowning at the front-facing camera results, there are others who took it differently, adding a dash of humor in this made selfie-sharing age, Fox News said. This included sharing captured photos and making comparisons of their actual shot and then placing a popular person on the other side.
