It is no news that Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift are dating. Now, the 27-year-old English actor has revealed why he rarely speaks publicly about his relationship with the award-winning singer.
In the November issue of GQ Magazine, Joe Alwyn said he wants to keep details of his relationship with Taylor Swift as private as possible. He also said that he does not feel the need to publicize their dating status.
"Someone's private life is by definition private," Joe Alwyn said in an honest interview with the publication, as quoted by The Daily Mail. "No one is obliged to share their personal life," he added.
It can be remembered that Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift reportedly started dating shortly after they first met at the 2016 Met Gala. The two, however, rarely attend events together.
Despite that, Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift manage to publicly but discreetly support each other in any way they can. The former was seen at multiple concerts during "Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour" this past summer.
In a video captured by a fan, Taylor Swift can be seen pointing at Joe Alwyn while singing her hit song "Gorgeous." The actor, who kept it simple by donning a denim jacket over a white t-shirt, watched on while standing next to his girlfriend's mother, Andrea Swift.

Taylor Swift also supported her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, by attending the New York premiere of "The Favourite," who stars in the film alongside Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Nicholas Hoult. The "Look What You Made Me Do" hitmaker, however, did not walk the red carpet and was spotted exiting the theater through a back door instead, as per US Weekly.
Taylor Swift, who is known for writing songs about her ex-boyfriends, actually like the idea of keeping their relationships away from the spotlight. She is reportedly the happiest she's ever been with Joe Alwyn.
"Joe [Alwyn] has really showed her a different lifestyle and the value of privacy," a source revealed in the July issue of Us Weekly. "She's the happiest she's ever been... Taylor is so much happier without her personal life in the open. She credits Joe for that and realizes how much better off she is," she added.
Before Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift dated actor Tom Hiddleston for more than three months. She was also involved in a brief yet highly publicized romances with singers Harry Styles and John Mayer.
