Israel is not only a place for pilgrimage tours and a way to the Holy Land. The country also has nature reserves and outdoor adventures that physically active tourists will surely enjoy. So here are four places that visitors must see when they visit Jerusalem.

Gazelle Valley

There is Gazelle Valley. It is a nature reserve that homes gazelles, an antelope species. This place is on the border of Jerusalem that is surrounded by residential houses.

According to the South China Morning Post, mountain gazelles can be found wandering across northern Israel. But prevalent hunting and destructing their habitat led to their extinction. Gazelle Valley is the animal's last home in Jerusalem. The place, a.k.a. the Pri Har Valley, was opened in 2015 as the "first urban nature reserve" in the country.

Sacher Park

Sacher Park is the largest public park in the heart of Jerusalem, Israel. It homes different kinds of birds like warblers, finches, and other songbirds. It also has a kingfisher that enjoys its stay on small trees.

It also brags the largest "stretch of picnic greenery" that only gets crowded when there is a concert or a big event, per iTravelJerusalem. The big trees on the side provide shade to the people enjoying their stay, while the un-shaded area is the best place to enjoy an outdoor activity like Frisbee.

Dead Sea

Visitors will get welcomed by green fields and pine woods to the rolling landscape of the Dead Sea. The semi-desert with a yellowish grass and sparse soil bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west.

The Dead Sea is near the home of Jewish settlers. Here, the road goes down as the land dips that is an indication of the sea level. It also has a signboard in the parking area to inform the tourists.

Nahal Taninim Reserve

Nahal Taninim Reserve opened in the 21st century, via the Times of Israel. A river is a one-stop place as it holds the beautiful combination of a shimmering lake, the flowing Taninim River, flowers, wild animals, mines, a bridge that people can walk through, and the ancient dam.

This historical place will give the tourists some comfort with its shady trees. They can also sit beside its clean Taninim River to make them calm and relax. It also has a long narrow canal known as the "unfinished aqueduct." It remains a big mystery what it is left unfinished, but tourists can enjoy walking through this bridge.
