South Korean boy band BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, continues to dominate the music scene. The seven-member group proudly took home four trophies at the 44th E! People's Choice Awards.
On Nov. 11, Sunday, E! gathered the biggest names in the entertainment industry as it announced winners of the annual People's Choice Awards at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. There, BTS' single "IDOL" won "Song of 2018" award, beating Ariana Grande's "No Tears Left to Cry," Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood," Selena Gomez' "Back To You" and Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin's "I Like It." The K-pop boy band also took home three other awards - "The Group of 2018," "Social Celebrity of 2018," and "Music Video of 2018."
BTS - RM (whose real name is Kim Nam Joon), Jimin (whose real name is Park Ji Min), V (whose real name is Kim Tae Hyung), J-Hope (whose real name is Jung Ho Seok), Suga (whose real name is Min Yoon Gi), Jungkook (whose real name is Jeon Jung Kook) and Jin (whose real name is Kim Seok Jin) - was not present at the ceremony to personally accept the four awards. Instead, they thanked their fans across the globe for the love and support through a pre-recorded 30-second video.
"We are so honored to win 'The Group of 2018' award," the boy band's main rapper and leader RM said in a video, as quoted by The Kpop Herald. "We just finished touring America and can't wait to come back and see you guys."
BTS recently kicked off the Asia leg of their "BTS World Tour: Love Yourself" with an epic performance at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on Nov. 13, Tuesday. They will also hold similar shows in Kyocera Dome Osaka, Nagoya Dome, and Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome.
Aside from that, BTS will also be making their cinematic debut with the release of "Burn the Stage: The Movie" on Nov. 15. The film, directed by Park Jun Soo and produced by Big Hit Entertainment / Camp Entertainment, will feature footage from their live dates, behind-the-scenes footage and brand-new one-on-one interview with the members.
Tickets for "Burn the Stage: The Movie" is currently on sale through CGV. As of press time, more than 60,000 individuals have already placed their reservation for the said feature film, surpassing the number of people who reserved tickets for Warner Bros. Pictures' "Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald," according to Soompi.
