Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum will soon return to the small screen via tvN's new melodrama "Encounter." Ahead of its premiere, the two opened up about what fans can expect from their respective roles.
Over the weekend, tvN dropped a three-minute video of Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum describing their respective roles in the upcoming melodrama "Encounter." The former will play Cha Soo Hyun, while the latter plays Kim Jin Hyuk.
According to Song Hye Kyo, Cha Soo Hyun was a very bright, innocent person. Things, however, changed when she started living in a stifling environment and came to live like a bird that is trapped in a cage.
At that very moment, she meets a freewheeling young man, Kim Jin Hyuk, who finds joy in the simplest things. The latter is actually the one who helps her comes out of the bird cage to find her freedom.
"['Encounter'] is a romance drama that tells the story of characters Cha Soo Hyun and Kim Jin Hyuk who fatefully meet inside of a space that feels as if you're watching a scene from an old movie," Park Bo Gum said in the three-minute video, as translated by Soompi. "I think that it's a drama that you shouldn't and can't miss," he added.
As for Song Hye Kyo, "Encounter" is a drama where people of all ages - whether they are currently dating or not - can enjoy. Even the old ones can feel heart-fluttering emotions again when watching the show, she added.
This comes after the 37-year-old actress - who first gained widespread popularity after starring in 2000's "Autumn in My Heart" - explained why she chose "Encounter" as her comeback drama.
During the press conference for "Encounter" (via All Kpop), the Hallyu star said she picked the tvN drama because she is confident that it will become a good production considering Park Bo Gum's incredible acting and Park Shin Woo's directorial skills. The latter is the one behind the popular dramas "Jealousy Incarnate" and "Angel Eyes."
Also starring in the upcoming tvN drama are Jang Seung Jo as Jung Woo Seok, Shin Jung Keun as Kim Jang Soo, Baek Ji Won as Joo Yeon Ja, Nam Gi Ae as Jin Mi Ok, Ko Chang Seok as Nam Myung Sik, Kim Hye Eun as Kim Sun Joo and Moon Sung Geun as Cha Jong Hyun.
"Encounter," also known as "Boyfriend," will premiere on Nov. 28 at 9:30 PM (KST) on tvN.
