Super Junior's Siwon, whose real name is Choi Si Won, will return to the small screen soon. The 31-year-old singer-turned-actor has been tapped to headline the new crime-comedy drama series, "Dear Citizens" (tentative title).
On Tuesday, Nov. 27, SM Entertainment confirmed that Super Junior's Siwon would play the lead male role of Yang Jung Kook, a great conman who happens to marry a police officer, in the upcoming drama series "Dear Citizens."
After he marries a police officer, Yang Jung Kook plans to live a normal life. He, however, ends up running to become a member of the National Assembly after he gets swept up in a series of unplanned incidents.
"[Super Junior] Choi Siwon will appear in KBS' upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama titled 'Dear Citizens,'" a source from his management agency, SM Entertainment, said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "[It] is scheduled to air next year."
"Dear Citizens" will benefit from the creativity of producing director Kim Jung Hyun, whose previous projects include the 2017 romantic comedy series "Jugglers." The script will be penned by Hang Jung Hoon, who wrote "Bad Guys: Vile City," "Missing Nine" and "Squad 38."

"Dear Citizens" is Siwon's follow-up to the 2017 youth romance drama, "Revolutionary Love." In the show, he plays a third-generation chaebol, Byun Hyuk, who hides his true identity and begins living in a tiny studio apartment.
"Revolutionary Love," which also starred Kang So Ra ("Doctor Stranger" and "Warm and Cozy") and Gong Myung ("The Bride of Habaek" and "Entertainer") as Baek Joon and Kwon Jae Hoon respectively, consisted of 16 episodes and ran from October to December 2017 on the tvN network.
In other related news, Super Junior - Siwon, Leeteuk (whose real name is Park Jeong Su), Ryeowook (Kim Rye Wook), Donghae (Lee Dong Hae), Yesung (Kim Jong Woon), Eunhyuk (Lee Hyuk Jae) and Shindong (Shin Dong Hee) - recently released a special Latin-pop mini album titled "One More Time."
