Every month, millions of women in the world are suffering from several health concerns every time their red mark approaches. No one is exempted with the awful mood swings, the roller-coaster-like emotional adventure, and most especially the painful abdominal cramps that will surely leave anyone bed-ridden for a day.

Are you one of the billions who experience these symptoms every now and then? Is your pain already negatively affects your everyday activities? You can still do something about it. You still have the ability to change your fate.

Exercise can give the body a lot of benefits. One of those is that it can help the body manage its period gripes. By burning a couple of calories through working out, the body is able to produce chemicals that can help it function better, as posted by Health Line.

Dr. Christopher Hollingsworth shared, "Both progesterone and estrogen are at their lowest during the entire length of the period phase of the menstrual cycle." He also added that given this, the body tends to be more prone to fatigue and tiredness.

Regular exercise can also help the body create natural endorphins. This chemical is said to be responsible for making people happy and good about themselves.

Experts also added that aside from being the body's happy pill, endorphins can also act as the body's natural painkillers. So, a 10 to 20-minute workout is already enough to keep a person relieved from her monthly period pains.

Unfortunately, no matter how good exercise is to women during their period, some are still scared to try it out because of the myths that have been shared before.

One of the myths that people usually believe in is, exercising is good except for inversions and rigorous workouts.

Flex Fits corrected this by saying, "Wrong. Downward dog, crow pose, and other inversions should have no effect on the intensity of your period." Just make sure that while you're doing it, you are well-hydrated and have eaten enough food.

Another myth says that if a woman has a heavy flow, it is better for her to bed rest because her situation may lead to anemia.

The health blog once again rebuked this belief explaining how heavy flow can indeed lead to anemia, where the body was not able to produce enough red blood cells in accordance to the blood that is lost during the cycle. But anemia can be treated with proper diet combined with exercise. So, bed rest might, unfortunately, worsen the case instead of making it better.
