Veteran actor Shin Ha Kyun is all set to make a comeback on the small screen via MBC's "Less than Evil," the Korean remake of British crime drama "Luther." Ahead of its premiere, the 44-year-old actor revealed how the upcoming series differs from the original BBC drama.
During the recent press conference of the upcoming series, Shin Ha Kyun said the lead male role in "Less than Evil" will be quite different from the original BBC Drama. In the Korean remake, his character is quite serious and could be likened to a wolf who howls alone at night.
Moreover, the way the story unfolds in the Korean remake will be quite different than the original drama, which stars English actor Idris Elba as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther. Rather than the incidents themselves, the cases focus more on the characters' emotions.
"The stories are different from the ones on 'Luther'," Shin Ha Kyun said during the press conference of "Less than Evil," as quoted by Soompi. "The episodes are similar, but the way that the stories unfold or the emotions the characters feel are different. You will be able to experience it like new," he added.
As for the female lead character, it also does not have a lot of points in common with the Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson) character from the original BBC drama. While they adapted the idea of a genius psychopath, the Korean remake created a different character.
In "Less than Evil," Shin Ha Kyun plays a veteran detective, Woo Tae Seok, who will do whatever it takes to catch the criminals. His life turns upside down after he crosses paths with a genius psychopath and murderer Eun Seon Jae (Lee Seol), who eventually helps him solve cases.
Also starring in the upcoming MBC series are Park Ho San as Jeon Choon Man, Kim Gun Woo as Jang Hyung Min, Baro as Chae Dong Yoon, Bae Da Bin as Shin Ka Young, Bae Yoo Ram as Ban Ji Deuk, Yang Jae Young as Lee Moon Ki, Yoon Hee Seok as Jo Doo Jin, Ryu Tae Ho as Choi Jung Woo, Kim Na Yoon as Team Leader Sung, Hong Eun Hee as Kim Hae Joon, Cho Yi Hyun as Bae Yeo Wool, and Bae Yoon Kyoung as Woo Tae Hee.
