During the New York Fashion Week, Winnie Wen, one of the hosts of E! News Asia, was given the privilege to interview "China's first bona fide supermodel" Liu Wen.
The 30-year-old Liu Wen looking simple on white shirt and polo shared a lot of her experience being an Asian model who was given a chance to be a part of the prestigious fashion event.
When asked about her perspective of a typical New York Fashion Week, she answered, "As a model, you move from one show location to another. The same goes for the stylists, buyers, and editors who go from front row to front row. Everyone commutes non-stop within the city." She also shared that since there are a lot of people going through around the city, because of Fashion Week, traffic gets pretty congested.
The international model also shared how she loved to be in the fashion field. She finds herself so honored of the opportunities she has now especially whenever she light "like a star on the runway for a few seconds." Though it might seem very hard sometimes, she's still happy and challenged every time. For her, a crucial way to survive in this business is "to love what you do."
Wen also shared that if she's not a model, she might be a tour guide by now. With a heart full of adventure and love for cultures, she desires to travel around the world and experience what it has to offer to her. She doesn't just want to be in awe of the beauty of internal destinations, but she also wants to be in one with the different cultures of the globe.
Because of the success, the Chinese model has reached internationally; there is no doubt she is indeed an inspiration to everyone especially to those who are planning to go in the same industry. When asked to give some inspiring words in how one can reach success, she answered, unique personality and style are all that matters. Doing so can help you stand out amid others.
"I feel that it is increasingly important to develop one's own unique style and personality. People will recognize and relate to this authenticity in you. Being Chinese, I feel that my features make me unique. Everyone has also been accepting of the diversity that I represent," Wen added.
Before being gracing the runways of the New York Fashion Week, Wen was recently invited to walk at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show with Chinese model Ming Xi, as posted by South China Morning Post.
