It will not be arriving in cinemas until 2019, but "Hit-and-Run Squad" is already one of the most talked about films lately. Now, producing director Han Jun Hee has dropped the first stills for the upcoming film.
The said still photos gave fans a first look at Jo Jung Suk's villain role in the upcoming blockbuster action film "Hit-and-Run Squad." In the photo, the 37-year-old Hallyu star can be seen insider a red racing car who is seemingly about to commit crimes due to his obsession for speed and cars.
The said villain character, Jung Jae Cheol, is the first Formula One racer in South Korea. He suddenly retired as a race car driver and is now a renowned businessman.
He is the target of a tenacious police lieutenant, Eun Shi Yeon (Gong Hyo Jin), who will do whatever it takes to catch criminals. She will be joined by police constables Seo Min Jae (Ryoo Joon Yeol) and Woo Sun Young (Jeon Hye Jin).
In a previous sit-down interview, as cited by Soompi, Jo Jung Suk ("Jealousy Incarnate" and "Oh My Ghost") shared his honest thoughts on playing a villain for the first time. He said: "I'm excited yet nervous to play a character that I have not done before. I will do my best to reach out to the viewers through good acting skills."
Gong Hyo Jin (2013's "Master's Sun" and 2014's "It's Okay, That's Love"), on the other hand, assured everyone that she will give her best to portray the cool yet warm policewoman character, while Ryoo Joon Yeol ("Reply 1988" and "Lucky Romance") said he felt honored to be working on such unique project with a great actors and staff members.
"Hit-and-Run Squad" is directed by Han Jun Hee, whose previous works include the 2015 award-winning film "Coin Locker Girl." It will be distributed by Showbox, Inc. across theaters in South Korea sometime in the first half of 2019.
The upcoming blockbuster action film marks Jo Jung Suk and Gong Hyo Jin's reunion. The two have previously worked together in the 2016 romantic-comedy television series, "Jealousy Incarnate."
In the show, Jo Jung Suk played a star reporter and news anchor, Lee Hwa Shin, who suddenly falls in love with Pyo Na Ri (Gong Hye Jin), a weather broadcaster. It also stars Go Kyung Pyo as Go Jung Wo, a chaebol heir and close friend of Lee Hwa Shin.
