South Korean actor Song Joong Ki, who rose to superstardom on "Descendants of the Sun," will soon be back with a new television series "Asadal Chronicles."
While waiting for it to premiere, the 33-year-old Hallyu star talked about the upcoming TV series. He shared that the filming officially started on Dec. 5, although the entire cast and staff members started the preparation early this year.
"With all the preparations done and filming underway, more than half of December has already passed. I think time goes by very quickly," Song Joong Ki said in a video uploaded to Blossom Entertainment's Facebook page, as quoted by Soompi. "We're working hard on the drama."
Song Jong Ki went ahead to say that "Asadal Chronicles" will probably premiere sometime in May 2019 on the cable network tvN. He, then, assured fans that he would do his best to show the best version of himself in the said upcoming TV series.
The Hallyu star also took the opportunity to greet his fans across the world a very Merry Christmas. He said: "It's Christmas soon and the year is nearing its end. I hope you have a fun time with family and loved ones... Happy New Year, and I love you all."
"Asadal Chronicles" marks Song Joong Ki's small-screen comeback after nearly a three-year hiatus. In the upcoming TV series, he plays a cursed man, Eun Seom, who is born with fate to bring disaster to the ancient city of Asadal, the capital of Gojoseon.
Due to this, his mother tries very hard to keep him away from the city. After a couple of years, he suddenly appears and later conquers the ancient city and successfully develop it into a city-state to empire.
Song Joong Ki will be joined by Kim Ji Won ("Fight for My Way") as Tan Ya, a woman who is born with the same fate as Eun Seom; Jang Dong Gun ("Suits") as an ambitious war hero, Ta Gon, who dreams to become the first King of Asadal; and Kim Ok Vin ("Over the Rainbow") as Tae Ha, the last surviving member of Noeantal race, and the first Empress of Asadal.
Actors Jo Sung Ha, Kim Ho Jung, Choi Moo Sung, Ko Bo Gyeol, Park Byung Eun, Teo Yoo, Shin Joo Hwan, Son Sook, Park Hae Joon, Park Hyung Soo, and Yoo Tae Oh have also been cast in an undisclosed supporting roles.
