Canto-pop superstar Andy Lau Tak-wah canceled seven concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum, and more than 80,000 fans were affected. But, fans were advised not to rush getting a refund as the singer will likely reschedule his canceled concerts in 12 months.
On Wednesday, Focus Entertainment announced on its Facebook page that it had applied to the Coliseum to rent the venue in December since this is the earliest date available and it would find out the result by the end of January, the South China Morning Post reported.
In the statement released by the production company behind the "My Love Andy Lau World Tour in Hong Kong 2018," if the application becomes successful, fans affected by the cancellation can choose to have a refund or can rearrange their tickets for a new show. But, it the application fails, the company will immediately arrange refunds.
The company also advised those affected to keep a complete and valid ticket to the canceled shows and it should include the stub for concerts between December 29 and January 3. Meanwhile, those who went to the December 28 concert, where Lau axed the concert midway due to a throat infection, are required to present the punched tickets.
Lau revealed on Wednesday afternoon on the webpage of his fan club Andy World Club that he was discharged from the hospital. The superstar apologized to his fans, especially those affected, and he also shared his condition has become stable.
Lau's concerts were originally scheduled for the festive season between December 15 and January 3, which formed the first leg of his world tour. This is the 14th performance of the superstar at the Coliseum and also his first world tour in eight years. Although his concert schedules in the city have yet to be announced, Lau is expected to travel to China this year.
During his concert last December 28, Lau told his fans midway through the fourth song that he had to call off the show as his doctor advised him not to sing anymore. After that night, Focus Entertainment told affected fans to keep their tickets for the concerts from December 28 to 30 for a refund. It also confirmed the show has been canceled so the singer can take some rest and can continue performing.
But then, the concert organizer announced on December 30 that all of all four remaining shows of Lau, from December 31 to January 3, would be canceled as well because the superstar was struggling to recover from flu.
