Fans of "Welcome to Waikiki" are in for a treat. It has been confirmed that actor Lee Yi Kyung will return for the second season of the popular JTBC comedy series.

Lee Yi Kyung's involvement in the forthcoming "Welcome to Waikiki 2" was announced on Tuesday, Jan. 8 by his managing agency HB Entertainment. He will reprise his role as Cheon Joon Ki, the son of an A-list actor who wants to follow in the footsteps of his father but ends up as someone who plays minor roles.

"In Season 1, [Lee Yi Kyung] showed a wide variety of unique and different qualities through his portrayal of a character that was both comical and sincere," HB Entertainment said in a press statement obtained by Soompi. "Accordingly, he will display many charms in Season 2 as well, without giving viewers a single chance to get bored. We ask that you look forward to it."

Lee Yi Kyung is the only main cast member from the first season of "Welcome to Waikiki" to appear in the forthcoming season 2. Actors Ahn So Hee ("Train To Busan"), Shin Hyun Soo ("My Golden Life"), Kim Sun Ho ("100 Days My Prince") and Mun Ka Young ("Twenty Again") are currently in negotiations to star in the upcoming season.

While the storyline for "Welcome to Waikiki 2" remains under wraps, it has been confirmed PD Lee Chang Min will be back in the director's seat. As for the script, it will benefit from the creativity of screenwriters Kim Ki Ho and Song Ji Eun.

"Welcome to Waikiki 2" is set to premiere sometime in the first half of the year on JTBC network. While waiting, fans can check Lee Yi Kyung out in the currently airing MBC drama "Children of Nobody."

In the show, Lee Yi Kyung plays a police detective, Kang Ji Hyun, who has a good sense of judgment and an instinct for crime-solving. He believes that the full extent of the law should punish criminals.

His life turns upside down after he comes across a child psychologist, Cha Woo Kyung (Kim Sun Ah), who is on a quest to uncover the truth behind a mysterious incident.

Also starring in "Children of Nobody" are Nam Gyu Ri as Jeon Soo Young, Cha Hak Yeon as Lee Eun Ho, Na Young Hee as Heo Ji Ok, Oh Hye Won as Cha Se Kyung and Kim Young Jae as Kim Min Seok. It currently airs on MBC every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 PM (KST).
