Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner shuts down meme about her character in the hit series, Sansa Stark, which was used to promote racism. The actress responded to the meme posted on Twitter, and the tweet and account had since been deleted and suspended.
The racist meme is an image of Sansa Stark which has an overlaid text. The caption of the image was "purity in race and culture," while the overlaid text on the image says racist remarks such as, "do it right, date and marry white."
Ew. Please don’t use me to promote racism. https://t.co/u2bftRCbXy — Sophie Turner (@SophieT) January 26, 2019
The Twitter account with about 600 followers has been suspended for violating the rules of Twitter, and the meme was deleted as well, the Comicbook reported.
Turner has been part of the hit HBO fantasy-drama since 2011, which is now nearing its final season. Recently, the actress said she's terrified of keeping the "biggest secrets" of Game of Thrones finale. She admitted that she had already shared to her inner circle what will happen to the ending.
In a recent interview with W magazine, Turner said she's bad at keeping secrets and said she already told to a few people about the series' ending. When asked if she was drunk the time she spilled the beans, the actress answered she was just loose-lipped but definitely sober.
Turner added that she spoiled the ending to the people that she really knows, and not with random people. So, she's sure that her "inner circle" will absolutely keep the ending a secret until the final season will be released. Some fans assumed the actress shared the ending's plot to the Jonas Brothers and to Priyanka Chopra.
Meanwhile, Turner also shared she's feeling a lot of pressure to properly adapt her upcoming X-Men movie, "Dark Phoenix Saga." The actress will be playing the role of Jean Grey - a telepathic mutant. The story follows Jean who was nearly killed by a powerful and mysterious cosmic force. And when she returns home, the force makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable.
Turner said she knows the Dark Phoenix is one of the most loved stories in the X-men universe, so she feels really honored writer-director Simon Kinberg chose her to be Jean Grey in the upcoming movie. The movie will hit the theater on June 7, 2019, while Game of Thrones final season will premiere on April 14, 2019.
