Epic Games brings some balancing changes to "Fortnite" in the upcoming 7.40 Update. The update patch introduces a new weapon in addition to the return of another, adds new overtime challenges with corresponding rewards, and brings nerfs crucial to the game.

In a reddit post, Fortnite devs gave a glimpse at the changes that will take effect once the v7.40 update arrives on February 12, just in time for Valentine's Day. These include:

New and returning weapons

According to the in-game News Feed, an "Infantry Rifle" is "Coming Soon." There are no details regarding the new firearm save for a line that says "Classic design meets new combat style." Alt/Char notes that it does look like a hunting rifle, but other than that, there's not much to look at. Better wait for the update to know more.

As seen also in the News Feed, Cupid's Crossbow will be unvaulted for use on the battlefield. This is just in time for the "Share the Love" Event. The crossbow might be vaulted again after February 28.

Mobility changes

Ziplines now have an interact prompt added. In addition, those who use a zipline will be immune from receiving fall damage. Some redditors say this is one of the best changes in the update.

Dead end. Players who love smashing through structures using the Stormwing plane should know that they won't be able to do that anymore regardless of the size of the structure in front.

Crouching is now possible during edit mode. Those who have experienced spinning or flipping ramps while on this mode will love this. No more remapping d-pads or removing the rotate bind.

Nerfs

The new update brings nerfs to the following:

Hand Cannon: damage dealt against structures reduced from 150 to 100.

Rocket Launcher: reload time increased by a bit -- from 2.52s to 3.24s. Additionally, rocket launchers will be moved out of chests, but will be more available in Supply Drops.  They can also be acquired via Vending Machines.

Turbo Build: delay decreased by a tenth of a second, meaning from 0.15s to 0.05s

Overtime Challenges

The upcoming update brings additional Overtime Challenges, and ending these challenges before the Season ends unlocks five rewards which include the Vines Contrail and the Valentine Wrap.

More rewards are in store for Battle Pass owners. These include cosmetic bonuses, namely unlockable styles for the Powder, Trog, and Onesie outfits.

In addition to all these, there's also an additional reward for players who support a Creator. Those who enter a Creator Code between February 8-22 will receive a Cuddle Hearts Wrap once the update arrives.
