Earning the label of one of the world's well-known start-up when it comes to streetwear, "Hypebeast" totally rocks the internet world nowadays.

Gained the name of Asia's best-performing debut stock of 2016 and also Forbes' 2018 "Best Under a Billion" list of top 200 Asia-Pacific companies with less than US $1 billion in sales, as reported by South China Morning Post, the 'Hypebeast' start-up is now earning a staggering amount of about 5.8 million dollars (38.8 million Chinese Yuan) as profit and about 49 million dollars (327.9 million Chinese Yuan) as for their online store's total sales.

HOW AND WHERE DID 'HYPEBEAST' STARTED?

The company's success story started in Vancouver, Canada when the 'Hypebeast' founder Kevin Ma decided to start an e-commerce start-up sneaker blog just inside his very own room. Starting from scratch, Ma, pursued the website solely because of his passion for sneakers.

Kevin further shared that his passion started during his university years. It was then when he got so fond of reading fashion magazines, which features more about streetwear and sneakers for men.

By reading the magazines, he brought every once in a while, his love for sneakers grew, which inspired him to share his ideas through the internet.

"Since I'm super interested in this, why not document it in one place?" Ma shared.

WHY THE NAME 'HYPEBEAST'?

Most people wouldn't use the term "hypebeast" since it only had negative connotations before the start-up was born, but not Kevin. According to Fashionista, for him, the term sounds funny. Given this reason, he chose it to be his start-up's name.

HOW DID THE 'HYPEBEAST' EVOLVE FROM SNEAKERS BLOG TO WHAT IT IS NOW?

In the field, different artists often do collaborations. With this reason, from writing about four to five sneaker blogs a day, the start-up is now offering its readers about 40 to 50 articles with topics that also covers design, gallery art, fashion, and even cars.

Ma and other writers behind the online start-up usually feature big brands such as Adidas and Nike. They are also fond of featuring streetwear brands such as Supreme. But aside from these topics, people sometimes love to read articles about music and travel articles as well. So they post something about it once in a while too.

FUTURE PLANS

When asked about his other plans in the future, the founder answered, "For us, our goal is to make 'Hypebeast' better. The thing is how can we make it better? If investment is needed to make it better, then that's the way it is."
