Big Mouth season 3 is all set to return. The cartoon series about the struggles of puberty has been renewed last November 2018 for another 10-episode run and it is expected to come back on Netflix in late 2019.
The streaming platform, however, has yet to confirm when the new episodes will be up and ready on its website. According to Inverse, Big Mouth season 3 could arrive sometime between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4.
Based on the previous seasons, Big Mouth season 1 was released during the last Friday of September 2017. The second season followed a year later, during the first Friday of October.
Since the show is on track with production, the speculations could be on the mark. Co-creator Andrew Goldberg confirmed with Metro last February that the story of Big Mouth season 3 has taken shape and that they are deep in the animation phase of the production.
"We do some rewriting at the art and animation phase, but the show is mostly pretty set," Goldberg said. "We're still fixing things that don't quite work or changing things that don't quite look right."
Work on Big Mouth season 3 has been moving along swiftly that production even had a chance to schedule and deliver a special Valentine episode on Netflix. Goldberg confirmed that they did the standalone episode, "My Funny Valentine," a month before doing into the actual production for Big Mouth season 3.
Aside from Goldberg, Nick Kroll, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett are also behind the animated series. The stories of Big Mouth season 3 are inspired by these co-creators' personal experiences during puberty.
The show follows a bunch of New York middle schoolers led by Nick Birch (as voiced by Kroll) and Andrew Glouberman (as voiced by John Mulaney). Challenging their characters are the Hormone Monsters that influence their moods, thoughts and feelings. Throughout the show, the teens have to interact with people and objects that personify what they are going through.
It's unclear what Big Mouth season 3 has in store for these teen characters but Nick should experience some changes after he has Connie the Hormone Monstress (as voiced by Maya Rudolph) influencing him. Viewers may recall that he acquired Connie at the end of Big Mouth season 2 but this hormone monstress isn't such a good influence. Could Nick be led to the wrong path?
But Nick might also be able to harness Connie so that he becomes a well-adjusted man. Nick's father also had Connie as his hormone monstress during his adolescent years and he turned out a lot more progressive than most men.
Meanwhile, Netflix has not yet released any teasers to Big Mouth season 3 as of press time. Fans expect this will come sometime in the early summer.
