Many fans are now thrilled for the up-and-coming premiere of Criminal Minds Season 15. Speculations about the cancellation of the popular American police procedural crime drama television series sparked after its rating plummeted significantly during its fourteenth installment. Several reports suggested that the low ratings could affect the network's decision to renew the show. The good thing is, CBS confirmed the show's renewal on Jan. 20, 2019.

Now, avid followers of the show are wondering what Criminal Minds Season 15 could bring to the table. Well, it is expected that the forthcoming new installment would pick up where the latest season left off. Recent reports suggested that the fifteenth season would feature the new love interest of Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler).

Most viewers can recall how Supervisory Special Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau confessed her true feelings for Spencer Reid in the Season 14 finale. The character of Rachael Leigh Cook revealed that she has been loving Spencer for quite some time now and she was just scared to say it. Though things got a bit more complicated at the time, JJ thought that Spencer should know how she feels for him. In Criminal Minds Season 15, fans would know how Spencer would take JJ's confession.

It remains to be seen, however, if Spencer and JJ would end up together in the forthcoming Criminal Minds Season 15. What is certain, for now, is that Racheal would be coming back in the next installment. It is speculated that the Perception actress would appear in two episodes of the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, showrunner Erica Messer revealed that the first few episodes of Criminal Minds Season 15 would tackle the romance plot of Matthew and Rachael's characters. "Because we can't... pretend it didn't happen," she said. "It's definitely a huge driver for the first handful of episodes that will help add layers to those characters again," she went on.

Erica, also, expressed her reaction on the news saying that Criminal Minds Season 15 being the series' last and final installment. "It's really bittersweet, but I'm so, so grateful to CBS for giving us this heads-up," she stated.

Beside Spencer Reid and JJ, other characters would make a comeback in Criminal Minds Season 15 include David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), and Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) among others. CBS, reportedly, booked the series to run for a total of 10 episodes, which is lower compared to the previous installments.

The upcoming fifth season is expected to premiere sometime in September or October 2019. Stay tuned to Business Times for more Criminal Minds Season 15 spoilers, predictions, theories, news, and updates.
