Lee Min Ho is, undeniably, among the most sought-after stars of his generation. His countless endorsements, television and movie projects are enough proofs that he is, indeed, a Hallyu superstar. However, just like most successful personalities, the former boyfriend of Suzy Bae did not have a smooth start.

Initially, Lee Min Ho did not plan to enter show business when he was younger. The 31-year-old South Korean actor-singer was about to become a professional soccer player during his elementary days. However, an unexpected injury forced him to quit his favorite sports and shift into another field.

Luckily, Starhaus Entertainment discovered the exemplary talents of Lee Min Ho during his final year of high school, and the talent agency signed him up instantly. He, then, landed some minor roles in various television series such as Recipe of Love and Nonstop 5. In 2003, the former leading man of Park Shin Hye got his debut role in the popular EBS series called Secret Campus.

While he was already enjoying fame, Lee Min Ho met a serious car accident with Jung Il Woo in 2006. At the time, the Hallyu superstar got severe injuries, and he spent several weeks bedridden. After getting medications and going through therapy, Min Ho was able to return to the limelight thru the high school drama titled Mackerel Run in 2007. He also had two television dramas - I Am Sam and Get Up - and two films - Our School's E.T. and Public Enemy Returns - after that.

Lee Min Ho gained a massive following in South Korea and various parts of Asia after his successful portrayal of his role as Gu Jun Pyo in Boys Over Flowers in 2009. As a matter of fact, the ex-lover of Suzy Bae got the Best New Actor award at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards for the said role. Min Ho also appeared in other successful television dramas such as Legend of the Blue Sea (2016), The Heirs (2013), City Hunter (2011), Faith (2012), and Personal Taste (2010) among others.

Other awards handed to Lee Min Ho include 2017 Best Couple with Jun Ji Hyun for Legend of the Blue Sea, 2016 Most Anticipated Action Comedy Actor and Asian Movie Pioneer for the Bounty Hunters movie, 2015 Most Popular TV Actor for Gangnam Blues, 2014 Prime Minister Award at the 5th Korean Popular Culture and Arts Award, 2013 Best Couple Award alongside Park Shin Hye and Top Excellence Award for The Heirs.

At the moment, Lee Min Ho is completing his mandatory military service at the Suseo Social Welfare Center in Gangnam District Office as a public service officer. He completed his military training at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Korea in April 2018. The former beau of Suzy Bae will be discharged in May 2019.

It remains to be seen if Min Ho would return to the spotlight after he completes his mandatory military service. Previous reports already claimed that he is likely to reunite with Park Shin Hye for The Heirs 2. But, everything should be taken with a grain of salt since nothing is confirmed up to this writing.
