This Is Us season 3 episode 18 is the finale episode for this season. Airing on Tuesday, April 2, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC, it will center on Rebecca (played by Mandy Moore) and her situation in the future.
Series creator Dan Fogelman confirmed in an interview with Glamour that This Is Us season 3 episode 18 will answer the flash-forward scenes that were previously shown in some episodes. It's where an older Randall (played by Sterling K. Brown) and his adult daughter Tess (played by Iantha Richardson) visit a woman at a hospital. This woman is apparently older Rebecca.
Moore confirmed that Rebecca is definitely suffering from an ailment but she has also confirmed that it isn't Alzheimer's disease. Viewers will have to tune in to This Is Us season 3 episode 18 to find out what Rebecca's mystery ailment is but Moore won't confirm nor deny if it would be actually revealed in the finale.
Meanwhile, Fogelman also hinted that This Is Us will shift in season 4. The relationship between Miguel (played by Jon Huertas) and Rebecca will finally be expounded. Moore told E! News that she's very excited about this prospect since it's high time viewers should accept and fall in love with this couple.
This Is Us season 4 will also center more on Randall, Kate (played by Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (played by Justin Hartley and less about their dad Jack (played by Milo Ventimiglia). This doesn't mean, however, that viewers will see less of the Ventimiglia in the next season.
"I do think it's fair to say that Jack remains at the center of the orbit," Fogelman told Good Housekeeping. "But some of the more mysterious or dramatic pulls of the series might start falling into the hands of some of our other characters in the back half of our series."
These pronouncements are a fair way of saying that the show is evolving in its next chapters. Fogelman also hinted that there could be new faces and new cast additions in the next season.
Meanwhile, the cast cautioned that the last five minutes of This Is Us season 3 episode 18 will leave viewers shocked and on the edge of their seat. The finale episode will be unexpected but, as with the previous seasons, there will be some answers as well as more to the drama surrounding the Pearson family.
This Is Us airs Tuesday nights at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. The show will bow out of the summer season but it will expectedly be back in the fall for its 2019-2020 run.
