God Friended Me has gotten a second season renewal. In January, CBS confirmed that the show is going to return for the 2019 to 2020 TV season.

CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement that God Friended Me is doing well in its Sunday schedule hence it has climbed on the network's top three new shows. God Friended Me also brought in significant improvements to the time schedule thus it deserved to be renewed for season 2.

Given these pronouncements, it's likely that CBS will not move God Friended Me season 2 from its Sunday slot this fall. So, viewers can still expect this feel-good drama series to retain its original time schedule in the 8:00 p.m. slot this coming fall.

However, CBS has not yet confirmed God Friended Me season 2's air date, as of this writing. The network will likely make the announcement sometime in May, during the upfronts presentation involving all networks.

Brandon Michael Hall is expected to reprise his role as Miles Finer in God Friended Me season 2. Violett Beane as Cara Bloom, Suraj Sharma as Rakesh Sehgal, Javicia Leslie as Ali Finer, and Joe Morton as Reverend Arthur Finer are also going to be back as part of the God team.

But God Friended Me season 2 could expand its cast. Adam Goldberg as Simon Hayes has potentials to become a series regular, especially when his character finally reveals himself in the flesh in the upcoming episode.

God Friended Me season 1 episode 19, which airs on Sunday, March 31, will have Miles and Arthur meeting Simon face-to-face for the first time, as per the episode synopsis. After weeks of tracking him down as the person behind the God account of Facebook, the father and son duo will finally catch on to the elusive guy during their road trip to the upstate.

God Friended Me revolves around the story of a non-believer who becomes Facebook friends with "God." Miles realizes that God wants him to help change people's lives and from a non-believer, he becomes an agent for God. Despite helping a handful of individuals through the course of the show, Miles is still trying to figure out who is behind the God account on Facebook.

Hall said that he loves working on God Friended Me because it brings a positive message. Speaking with CBS Local, the actor said that he's always receiving the coolest reactions from viewers.

"People are being touched by the show and actually giving it a chance," he said. "That means the art that we are creating is impacting people."
