It's a proud record for a proud city. For the seventh straight year, Changi Airport Singapore has been voted the World's Best Airport by international air travelers, according to United Kingdom-based airline and airport review and ranking site, Skytrax.
The selection of Changi was among a bevy of "Best Airport" awards announced by Skytrax on Wednesday in London.
Skytrax said this is the first time in the history of the awards that an airport has won this title for seven straight years. Changi Airport was also the repeat winner of the award for the Best Airport Leisure Amenities and was again selected the Best Airport in Asia.
The Skytrax survey involved more than 13 million travelers globally. Respondents were asked to rate airports across different data points, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, and security and immigration. Asian airports dominated the 2019 list, taking six of the 10 top spots. The top 10:
1. Singapore Changi Airport
2. Tokyo Haneda International Airport
3. Incheon International Airport
4. Hamad International Airport
5. Hong Kong International Airport
6. Chubu Centrair International Airport
7. Munich Airport
8. London Heathrow Airport
9. Narita International Airport
10. Zurich Airport
China's top ranking airports were Shanghai Hongqiao (number 16); Guangzhou (39) and Xi'an (44). The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was named the World's Most Improved Airport.
In contrast, the top-ranked U.S. airport was Denver (32) followed by Hartsfield-Jackson (36) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (37).
"To be voted the world's best airport for the seventh consecutive year is a truly fabulous achievement for Changi Airport," said Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted.
"The opening of the Jewel Changi Airport in April 2019 looks set to add another unique dimension to the experience for Changi Airport customers."

Skytrax also named the world's best hotels for air travelers as part of the 2019 World Airport Awards. The winners:
