The Orville season 2 is currently on a two-week break, but when it comes back with new episodes on FOX, there will be a slight change in its world. In particular, The Orville season 2 episode 13 will feature a time distortion which will affect the relationship of Ed (played by Seth MacFarlane) and Kelly (played by Adrianne Palicki).
The episode synopsis didn't explicitly say what will happen to Ed and Kelly in The Orville Season 2 episode 13, which airs on Thursday, April 18. But it's fair to gauge that the ex-couple could still be married in this alternate timeline.
In August 2018, MacFarlane, who also created the show, confirmed that Ed and Kelly's romance would serve as the anchor of The Orville season 2. The relationship might not be the main storyline in every episode, but it will still be part of the central plot of the series.
"It something that goes through stages," MacFarlane told Cinemovie.TV, referring to Ed and Kelly's relationship. "It's an anchor that...you'll see as a bit of garnish [in some episodes]."
The Orville, after all, debuted with the story about Ed and Kelly's relationship breaking down in its pilot episode. So, it's not surprising that the series will keep coming back to this plotline.
Viewers may recall that Ed and Kelly's marriage broke apart because of her infidelity. However, the two agreed to work out it in the middle of The Orville season 1 and decided to get back together. The only problem was, Ed and Kelly realized that they were better off as co-workers and confirmed the end of their relationship for good.
But according to Comic Book, there was an episode from The Orville season 1 that was about Ed and Kelly's relationship. Ultimately, this was shelved and then later pushed back for airing in the second season. Could The Orville season 2 episode 13 be this episode?
Meanwhile, The Orville season 2 episode 12 will still air a week before the show explores Ed and Kelly's relationship. Here, Ed will discover that there are Moclans in the spaceship and that they are carrying a big secret.
The teaser hints that there's an emerging act of war in space and the crew can do something about stopping it. While Ed is unsure if they have the power and the capacity, Kelly and Bortus (played by Peter Macon) will do their best to lead their team.
The Orville season 2 airs every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. on FOX.
