The father of Patterson (played by Ashley Johnson) is back on Blindspot season 4 episode 18. Bill Nye will play his popular identity as the Science Guy, but he's the dad of an FBI operative in this series.

According to the episode synopsis, Patterson's father will be working on an experiment that will have her team go up against a stingy enemy. The teaser hints that someone has a weapon of mass destruction which, naturally, the team has to stop.

But to Patterson's surprise, she finds her dad in the laboratory that the FBI raids after following a lead on the bad guys. Her dad also has this surprised look on his face upon seeing his daughter and the rest of the FBI, as shown in the teaser.

It's likely that Patterson's dad doesn't have any idea that he's working on something that could kill millions of people. But since this is Nye, it's also likely that the episode will not be as heavy or serious as the other installments of Blindspot season 4.

Nye first appeared on Blindspot season 3 around this time last year. Johnson was super thrilled to have him on the show because she followed his series as a little kid.

"I was such a huge Bill Nye fan, and so maybe that was another reason why [creator] Martin Gero thought it would be funny if he played my dad," Johnson told TV Insider. "He's just so kind, wonderful, smart, and funny. I just feel so lucky that I got to work with him."

The other interesting part about Blindspot season 4 episode 18 is the light moment shared between Jane (played Jaimie Alexander) and Weller (played by Sullivan Stapleton). Another video clip from the episode shows Jane reviewing some of her old notes and keepsakes as a young assassin to recall her former life, which might help lead them to more clues about the group they are after.

Weller, however, sets his sights on an old poetry book that young Jane wrote. He reads a passage out loud to an embarrassed Jane, who defends herself by saying that everyone had a gothic phase as a teenager.

Unfortunately, the light-hearted moment was cut off with Weller receiving a message on his phone. He's working on a case and is looking for the figure in hooded clothing. Zapata (played by Audrey Esperza), on the other hand, is going rogue on Blindspot season 4 episode 18. The episode airs Friday, April 12, at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
