This is the moment fans have been looking forward to. A new batch of promotional images for Riverdale Season 3 Episode 20 hint at an intense confrontation between Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and the Gargoyle King.
Before that, here's a quick recap of what happened in the latest episode of Riverdale Season 3. Episode 19, titled " Chapter Fifty-Four: Fear the Reaper," kicked off after the death of Randy Ronson (Darcy Hinds) with Elio Grande (Julian Haig) framing Archibald "Archie" Andrews (KJ Apa) for providing him drugs to use for the fight.
However, Elio Grande's plan went into awry when Veronica Cecilia Lodge (Camila Mendes) ordered Archie Andrews and Mad Dog (Eli Goree) to undergo a drug test. She, then, held a press conference outside of Pop's to announce that their drug tests have come back negative.
While Randy Ronson's death was not Archie Andrews' fault, he still felt responsible for it and wanted to help the Ronson family somehow. Hence, Veronica Cecilia Lodge recommended a benefit concert at La Bonne Nuit.
Meanwhile, the Jones family and Kurtz (Jonathan Whitesell) were forced to play a round of Gryphons and Gargoyles (also known as G&G) to bring Jellybean Jones (Trinity Likins) back home. However, FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich) was shot while they were robbing Pop's, and Gladys Jones (Gina Gershon) was severely stabbed while in a fight with Penny Peabody (Brit Morgan).
Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), on the other hand, was nearly killed after Kurtz locked him in a freezer. Luckily, he managed to break the lock and free himself after slamming his body against the door repeatedly. He, then, found Kurtz dead on the ground with the Gargoyle King standing right behind him.
Now, the teaser for Riverdale Season 3 Episode 20 revealed that Jughead Jones would discover a major clue about the Gargoyle King as he will find a book, entitled "The Gospel of the Gargoyle King," in an abandoned bus.
However, Betty Cooper will do things her way as the 20-second teaser for the upcoming episode shows her holding a gun up to the Gargoyle King and demanding he reveals himself.
"Betty (Lili Reinhart) takes matters into her own hands after learning some unsettling news about her father," the official Riverdale Season 3 Episode 20 synopsis reads (via Carter Matt). "Mary (guest star Molly Ringwald) grows concerned by Archie's (KJ Apa) desire to take boxing to the next level. Elsewhere, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) runs into a roadblock during her campaign for prom queen, while Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty's plan to confront the Gargoyle King takes an unexpected turn."
Riverdale Season 3 Episode 20, titled "Chapter Fifty-Five: Prom Night," airs on May 1 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on The CW.
