The recent Avengers: Endgame seems to set the stage for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. As the final movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Phase 3 returned Gamora (Zoe Saldana) from the past, there are expectations she would also make her way in the movie's third installment. Also, a new passenger joined the gang on Benatar, and he might be involved in the new film.

James Gunn, who returns to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after a controversial issue, has been teasing Gamora's return to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The 52-year-old filmmaker said in the past Saldana's character would be a major part of the third installment, although she died in Avengers: Infinity War, per Comic Book.

Thanos (Josh Brolin) risked Gamora's life to have the Soul Stone in Infinity War. Avengers: Endgame revealed the trade is for keeps. But doing what Thanos did, the trade reportedly had no impact.

Gamora joined the fight against Thanos in Endgame after she traveled back in time with his father. Although she might be different from the Gamora fans used to see, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) seemed to find her and bring her in their new adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Also, the end of the Endgame teased Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is now with the Guardians. The former King of Asgard would prove he is an adventurer rather than a ruler as he would return roaming the outer space in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, calling their team as "The Asgardians of the Galaxy."

When Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), the new Queen/King of Asgard, asked him where he is going, Thor said he had a ride and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) told him they had to move. According to Polygon, there is even a comic book titled Asgardians of the Galaxy, featuring Asgard-related characters and doing what the original Guardians do in the outer space.

In the comic book, they are battling Nebula as she uses a zombie god army to trigger Ragnarok. However, the publication noted it has nothing to do with Thor and the Guardians per se, so it might not be the base of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Thor's addition to the Guardians seems to be in connection with Thor: Ragnarok as it drew a lot of inspiration from Guardians of the Galaxy. So, fans have to wait for more updates if Thor will indeed be part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has an initial release of 2020.
