Shane Dawson is like the godfather of YouTubers with bad reputations. With his power to see the good side in people, the 30-year-old YouTuber, writer, comedian, actor, director, musician, and media personality managed to change people's minds about disgraced internet influencers Jeffree Star and Jake Paul (although many are still having a hard time liking the latter, they did see some of his good traits through Shane’s documentary).
With that said, is Shane Dawson going to fix James Charles’ career next? Even though a documentary about the 19-year-old makeup artist is not on the cards right now as Shane is currently working on a new project with Jeffree Star, he is giving his two cents on the whole James Charles and Tati Westbrook drama. And since he is THE Shane Dawson, people are more than willing to listen to what he had to say.
Reports about Shane Dawson unfollowing James Charles on social media is completely false. There were a lot of celebrities who unfollowed the young YouTube star like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and more — but Shane is certainly not one of them.
Although he seemingly confirmed as to whose side he picked when he promoted Tati Westbrook’s Halo Beauty supplements, Shane never said anything against James Charles. However, the “godfather of YouTube” is unhappy with the situation as he took to social media to share his thoughts regarding the whole drama.
"Feeling sad. Everything feels so dark right now. Even though I believe some people need to be humbled I also could never enjoy watching someone go through something like this,” Shane Dawson wrote. “Today I wanna focus on the good stuff. I feel like I have tea poisoning from seeing all this drama. Send a nice text to a friend today. Give someone a hug. Tweet a link to ur favorite music video. I dunno... Something nice. I feel like we all need that right now."
His post comes right after Tati Westbrook herself took to Twitter, asking for people not to "grab onto hate" or "celebrate pain." Again, referencing the online backlash against James Charles since the drama kicked off.
This misunderstanding, falling out, or whatever you want to call it, is only between James Charles and Tati Westbrook. Shane Dawson wants to remind everybody that hate is not going to solve anything. It’s just going to make things worse for both parties involved.
It is worth noting that Shane Dawson is not an angel, and he would be the first person to admit that he made a lot of mistakes on-and-off cam, which is why he knows exactly how James Charles is feeling right now. He had his share of being hated for his actions before, but he is now considered as one of the most inspirational and influential YouTubers out there.
After Shane Dawson’s plea, will people stop hating on James Charles? For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
